My Dad's Visit

We were so glad to have my dad come visit us Labor Day weekend, from Denver. My mom was in Italy and so it was just us and Papa. We had a wonderful, laid back visit. I think my dad really enjoyed watching the kids drive their power wheels, and as always loved snuggle time with Connor.

Both my mom and dad are great gift givers; they have a real knack for picking out gifts that you'll really enjoy and /or really need! My dad sends the kids lots of things via the computer, and below, the kids are enjoying the story "The Three Little Pigs." The cool thing about this website, Zoodles, is that a person can film themselves reading the story, and when the recipient watches it, they see they storybook AND the person reading it to them simultaneously. The kids' favorite part is when the wolf huffs and puffs because my dad acts all out of breath. And at the end, when the wolf burns his bottom in the pot of soup and runs away, saying "Ouch! Ow! Ahh!" the kids squeal with delight at my dad's narration of that part.

Look closely on the computer screen; on the left you'll see the cartoon storybook, and on the right is the box with my dad reading the story.

*You can't tell well here, but Jack is all giggles! Thanks Papa. When the kids are really unruly, I just start playing this video, and they run to the computer and forget whatever they were fighting about! :p

Connor's new thing

Connor can claim this trait as his own...neither Jack nor Lucy ever moved around with their tongue hanging out like a dog :)

Other new things with Connor: he has finally started sitting up on his own. He has been crawling for about three weeks now, and he can get anywhere he wants to. Not pulling up on things yet. He's just as happy and content as always! What a treat! He'll turn seven months on the 17th. Where does the time go?!?

A wet, rainy Labor Day

Today we're getting the weather from some tropical storm - or maybe it's a hurricane, not sure. Anyhow, we woke up to rain, and that's all we'll be seeing for a few days. (Gives us a good chance to try out the new drainage system that's been set up in our yard at least :)

And because our kids play best outside, our outfits for today were swimsuits (or in Jack's case, just his underwear :). And, oh my! The fun they had! Makes me wish I were a kid again!

This is the way to spend a rainy day! Jason and I sipped hot coffee while watching these monkeys play around!

Yes, the umbrellas were a bad idea; the blue one lasted about 8 seconds before it was broken. Ah, they're a hazard anyway :)

That's Jack :)

This is taken in our front yard...can you tell why we needed a drainage system! Looks like we need to have one installed in the front too!

Some playful wrestling!

And the "wheels" came out too! :)

Lucy came up with the idea to bring out the slide, and Jack had the idea to jump from the top of it! :)

Happy Labor Day! Hope you're busy doing anything other than work! :)

Playdate with Audrey

Earlier this week the girls had a blast making a bed at the top of the landing.

Lucy put on her fancy nancy pj's and audrey wore Belle's gown to "nap" :).

These two are cute as a button together! I hope they'll always cherish each other!
